The championships were staged at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
On a day that began drenched in rain, Greenwich beat Darien and Fairfield-Ward to reach the finals, while Fairfield Prep beat Branford and Cheshire to reach the finals.
Fairfield-Ward took third place with a win over Cheshire in the third and fourth place contest. Simsbury beat Madison to win the consolation final after beating Branford. Madison beat Darien to reach the consolation final.
In the bottom of the table contest, Darien beat Branford.
The tournament, in its second year, was applauded by the teams on hand. "It was a great day to show how well Greenwich can play and we are pleased to be the Connecticut State champions,” said Greenwich High head coach Steve Lapham.
“It is a great tournament and it is nice to see it grow in its second year."
Frank Decker, 26-year veteran head coach of Fairfield Prep, agreed with Lapham's assessment; "It was a great day of rugby and team's found their level of competition. There were great games throughout and the tournament can only continue to benefit rugby in Connecticut."
Two Greenwich Cardinal players, Michael Marzulla and Michael Gallagher, were named tournament MVPs. The Sportsman Award was given to Mat Benedeto of Fairfield Prep for his play throughout the tournament.
The tournament committee would like to thank the Connecticut National Guard, KooGa, Yale Rugby, and Yale University for it assistance in the event.
