We are pleased to name the very first ARN Down Under Rugby All-Americans.

No fewer than 22 coaches from every conference across the United States have contributed to the selection of this team.

The coaches have been watching the progress of players since the start of the fall season last September right through the Big 4 national championship weekend and have offered their considered and valued judgments on who should be recognized.

As the mainstream media does every year in naming All-American college football teams, ARN, as a rugby media outlet, and the coaches want to acknowledge the efforts of all the players named.

What makes our team different from USA Rugby's All-Americans is that we are recognizing the total body of work over the entire season of each and every player named, rather than basing selections on one weekend in June.

We are not seeking to compete with Boulder. On the contrary, we hope that by utilizing the expertise of almost two dozen top coaches from coast to coast it may help USA Rugby's All-American program, for which we have the utmost respect, to make its selections.

Our sponsors Down Under Rugby have made a very generous offer to take 50% off the cost of their 2008 program for one ARN All-American player who would like to experience rugby in Australia. To be in the running for this wonderful opportunity visit www.downunderrugby.com and complete their application.

We would like to publicly thank all of the coaches who have assisted in selecting this team, and we wholeheartedly congratulate each and every one of the players named as inaugural ARN Down Under Rugby All-Americans.
