Hitting the maximum registration of 170 campers for its July 14-17 session for boys on the campus of the University of California, the 2009 Cal Rugby Camp has continued to thrive despite troubled economic conditions that have plagued summer camp enrollments across the country.

While the players' camp is sold out, spaces still remain for the youth/high-school Coaches Clinic taking place July 10-12.

Presented by the National Guard and co-sponsored by Gatorade, the four-day immersion in rugby for aspiring high-school players is in its 13th year.

A waiting list for hopeful enrollees continues to grow even as camps elsewhere experience drops in enrollment, with Crain's New York Business reporting a reduction of 15% nationally.

Some camps have been forced to cancel their sessions.
