Friday night, North Carolina defeated Appalachian State. On Saturday afternoon, Wake Forest enjoyed an emotional come-from-behind victory over Clemson.
Sunday, the two winners met for a match in Chapel Hill.
Thus far, the standard procedure in the CRL has seemingly been close scores every weekend but the Tarheels finally broke that trend today.
Dominant play by the backline, especially flyhalf Gregor MacLennan, allowed North Carolina to open up an early 21-0 lead and they never looked back.
Despite their emotional victory the day before, Wake Forest was never able to get it going and the final count was North Carolina 75 Wake Forest 19.
According to Wake Head Coach Pat Kane, his squad was, “thoroughly outclassed” by the Carolina side.
When asked if he planned to take away any coaching points from this contest, Kane said he planned to “completely forget about this game and move forward.”
Wake Forest hosts NC State next Saturday, while North Carolina travels to play Clemson.
