It was CWU’s second match in Canada in as many weekends.
“This was a physical match which tested our set piece and forwards more than we have seen all year. Great opportunity for us to develop our side and prepare us going forward,” Central Washington head coach Bob Ford told ARN.
“I think every player will take lessons away from this experience and we will be the better for it.”
CWU had several opportunities inside five meters that they didn’t execute, although on a promising note, the team never gave up and worked hard to get back to their systems when under pressure.
“That means we are moving forward with the development of these young players and we are starting to show the ability to think correctly under pressure in a consistent manner,” added Ford.
“We will see immediate benefits to these last two weekends as we prepare for our first league match next Saturday against WSU in Martin Stadium.”
Last week, Central Washington beat UVic.
California is due to meet UBC in the first leg of their annual two-game World Cup series in late February.
