Reno, who were relegated from DI last year, were playing their second game in DII.
In a powerful forward display, the Keelhaulers controlled both scrum and lineout to create three scoring opportunities in the first half to go up 19-0 at half time.
The opening try by Blake Cowan came from a fine individual run and the second from a powerful driving lineout for Rufus Walker.
The third try was by fullback Gary Borrilez, who chased an up and under to score under the posts.
In the second half Walker scored another try and was 3-from-4 on conversions.
“The field was a mess and the game was more of a reflection of the field than the teams,” said Coach Edward Roberts, “but we learned some lessons today about how to play in wet, muddy conditions.”
The win takes Cal Maritime to 3-0 on the league.
Elsewhere, Arkansas beat Central Oklahoma 25-10. Arkansas led 12-3 at the half.
