For the second straight week, scheduled matches in the Carolinas and Southeastern Leagues have been scratched.
In the CRL, the Clemson v NC State, ECU v Wake Forest and South Carolina v Appalachian State fixtures have been snowballed, while the Tennessee v Ole Miss SEC League match has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions in Knoxville.
According to the Weather Channel, the rapidly intensifying storm will lift northward and then slowly push out to sea on Saturday.
Bursts of snow, mixed with rain, will linger behind the storm in eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia and North Carolina, while the southern Appalachians will see some additional accumulations.
Meantime, California is being buffeted by another wintry storm system that’s expected to cause flash flooding in the southern portion of the state, namely the Los Angeles and San Diego metropolitan areas.
This too could cause postponements and cancellations in the Southern California Premier League.
And in Northern California league news, Cal's trip to Chico State for a local-play match between the Golden Bears and Wildcats on Saturday has been cancelled.
With the Wildcats' field deemed unavailable due to weather conditions, Cal offered to host the match at Witter Rugby Field, but Chico State declined to travel.
The match will be rescheduled for later in the spring.
