The CR2 seeds are all set for next month in Austin following a weekend of playoff games in Dallas, TX.

The Glendale Raptors are the region’s #1 seed with the Austin Blacks #2 and Aspen #3.

In Saturday’s matchup to decide the top two seeds, the Raptors beat the Blacks 39-17. The game was close with around 20 minutes to go as the Raptors were in front by 20-17, but they closed it out down the stretch.

"All credit to Glendale, they played well," Austin player/coach Mark Brewerton told ARN. "I think our lack of preparation showed, and we've made it hard for ourselves, but it's not the end of the world."

CR2 does things a little differently to some other regions by having just the one single playoff game between the top two teams within the region to determine seeds 1 and 2, with four other teams battling it out for the third seed.

The four teams that went into the weekend vying for the third and final seed were Aspen, Houston Athletic RC (HARC), the Woodlands, and Boulder.

In the Saturday games Aspen belted the Woodlands 67-3, while HARC got by Boulder 27-22. Those results set up a Sunday showdown between the Gents and HARC and it was Aspen that came through for a 31-0 victory.

The Gents outgunned HARC on the day and put in a couple of late scores to stretch the final scoreline, although from HARC’s perspective, the weekend was a success.

“It was our first playoff win in a while [four years],” HARC president Will Wornhardt told ARN. “It was good to finally beat Boulder.”
