Las Vegas remained the only unbeaten team in the Southern California men’s Division I competition with a hard played 21-14 win on the road Saturday against Los Angeles.

In a tight game, the Blackjacks led narrowly 10-7 at halftime.

Both teams got out of the gates slowly leading to a scrappy match at times. Vegas took the initiative in the second forty and at one point had built an 18-7 lead, but LA clawed its way back into the game and closed the gap to 18-14 with a converted try.

However, Man-of-the-Match Rowan McKenzie sealed the victory for Las Vegas with a storming rumble down field that eventually led to a Vegas penalty within kicking range and the resulting shot at goal was successful.

“We’re not pleased with the way we played but we’re happy with the win,” Las Vegas manager Erick Kapp told ARN.

In other games, OMBAC beat Santa Barbara 39-29, and Santa Monica downed Huntington Beach 41-14.
