Georgia reportedly cited Malifa for an alleged biting incident during the Bowl final against the USA at the Churchill Cup on Sunday, June 21.
The Georgians allege that in the 80th minute after being tackled Malifa bit one of their players on the arm in the ensuring ruck.
Malifa emphatically denies the allegation and teammate Alec Parker testified at the initial hearing last Friday that he was near the ruck and that he did not see any indication of anyone being bitten.
The referee was right there when the alleged incident occurred yet made no ruling at the time.
A Churchill Cup panel responsible for ruling on citings reportedly met on Friday and after reviewing the Georgian claim suspended Malifa for six weeks.
The US is appealing the allegation and the suspension.
Should the suspension stand, Malifa will not be eligible to play for the Eagles in the upcoming Rugby World Cup qualifying series against Canada. The first game of that series is set for this Saturday, July 4, in Charleston, SC.
Earlier in the Churchill Cup, Georgia’s Levan Datunashvili was found guilty of striking Canada's Kevin Tkachuk and was suspended for one game following the Georgians’ opener against the Canadians on June 8.
