The Classic Eagles have gone down 35-5 to rivals Canada in the opening match of their 2009 series in San Francisco.

The game was played Saturday at the home of San Francisco Golden Gate on Treasure Island.

The scoreline was much closer at 12-5 with around 20 minutes left on the clock, at which point Canada ramped things up and poured on the pressure.

“The Canadians came out and played really hard,” Classic Eagles manager/coach Tim Kleumpers told ARN.

“We just couldn’t get some phases together and I think the lack of continuity really hurt us.”

The earlier ‘B’ side match ended in a 14-14 tie.
