I am writing to give my opinion of the recent Rugbytalk podcast (#73) on the current Eagles coaching vacancy.

I feel that we should hire the best coach regardless of nationality and under him we should fill the assistant and age grade coaching positions with up and coming coaches based in the US.

A good example would be hiring Eddie O'Sullivan as head coach with (Mike) Tolkin, (Chris) Osentowski and (Jonnie) Cox as assistant coaches.

I would also like to point out a comment that coach McLane made that I feel wasn't very fair. He stated that he didn't like foreigners or people with funny accents in American rugby.

I think he should apologize for this. Unfortunately he is just echoing a sentiment I have read on some of the other rugby blogs (e-rugbynews, gainline.us).

If it wasn't for these "foreigners" American rugby would be even farther down on the food chain.

Also, one of the reasons I and many others love the sport of rugby is that it allows us to be part of a global community, something I never experienced in the native American sports (football, basketball, baseball).

So, in the opinion of this American rugger, bring the funny accents on we need them.
