The Aston Bulls have wrapped up the American National Rugby League regular season on a winning note with a 28-16 bonus point win against the Philadelphia Fight Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

The win sees Aston snare third place in the standings.

In what was a makeup game from a match that had been postponed earlier in the season, the visitors led from the get go.

The five tries to three margin meant that the Fight did not get an extra point from the match and closed out the season in sixth place.

“Our performance was a lot better than last weekend,” Aston head coach Marcus Vassilakopoulos told ARN.

“Defensively we met them on the line and offensively we were much better around the rucks. The boys looked good so I was happy.”

Bulls’ try-scorers included Matt Shannon, Cory Benson, Louis Tulio, Conway Maraki and Daniel Wagon. Chris Ratcliff booted three conversions, while John Grace kicked one.

The Fight nabbed a couple of tries in the fourth quarter to make the score more respectable with Sal Ranniello (2) and Nick O’Connor dotting down. Michael Princic converted two of the scores.

Both teams are set to face each other again in the quarterfinals in mid-August.

Final standings (unofficial):
New Haven Warriors (6-0) 30pts
Jacksonville Axemen (6-0) 30pts
