The women’s national team has wrapped up its first 2008 elite training camp in Philadelphia, PA.

Forty-three athletes attended the five-day camp, which emphasized positional skills for the forwards and backs and even allowed time for a meeting with former first daughter Chelsea Clinton.

While training at a local YMCA, it was arranged for the team to meet and present a USA game jersey to Clinton, who was also at the facility for a town hall meeting during the buildup to the Pennsylvania Democratic primaries.

“The town hall meeting was packed and the crowd's enthusiasm was obvious. Camp captain Ashley English thanked Chelsea and presented her with the signed jersey from the whole team,” said USA women’s national team manager Annemarie Farrell.

“Chelsea accepted the jersey and immediately put it on - it was very exciting for the team to be a part of the event.”

Throughout the weekend, athletes worked on overall conditioning and developed individual skills geared toward their respective positions with several national team coaches.

Players at the Philadelphia camp included: Kristin Aliberto (Philadelphia), Stacy Baker (Philadelphia), Kristin Baja (New York), Amber Benlian (NOVA), Libby Berg (Minnesota Valkyries), Kristin Bonomo (Beantown), Jamie Burke (Berkeley All-Blues), Lisa Butts (Berkeley All-Blues), Brenna Costello (Washington Furies), Mel Denham (Beantown), Liz Dilley (Washington), Farrah Douglas (Chicago North Shore), Carrie DuBray (New York), Ashley English (Berkeley All-Blues), Ashley Groefsema (Boston), Blair Groefsema (Berkeley All-Blues), Allyson Hemstreet (Berkeley All-Blues), Angela Heifort (MN Valkyries), Katy Hertel (Minnesota Valkyries), Christina Hobson (Morris Pride), Mel Kanuk (Maryland Stingers), Phaidra Knight (New York), Tess Kohanski (Syracuse University), Lynelle Kugler (Glendale Raptors), Kristy Lear (MN Valkyries), Kim Magrini (Keystone), Nathalie Marchino (Berkeley All-Blues), Angela Marfisi (Philadelphia), Desiree Markovich (MN Valkyries), Vanesha McGee (Philadelphia), San Juanita Moreno (ORSU), Elise Myer (Maryland Stingers), Tina Nesberg (Berkeley All-Blues), Saburah Posner (Philadelphia), Jillion Potter (MN Valkyries), Naima Reddick (Berkeley All-Blues), Beckett Royce (ORSU), Jen Sinkler (Philadelphia), Lara Vivolo (New York), Sharyn Wacht (Beantown), Mari Wallace (Berkeley All-Blues), Sarah Walsh (Chicago North Shore) and Sheara Williamson (Philadelphia)
