Penn State graduate Alison Worman has wrapped up a successful stay at the University of Queensland Rugby Academy with selection to the Queensland women’s select side that won the Australian national championship.

Worman had been attending the Academy’s elite player development course for women.

She made it into the UQ women’s team, playing flanker and #8, in the Brisbane premiership and her performances were good enough to get her noticed by the Queensland coach, who invited her to suit up for the state team.

The PSU flanker started in Queensland’s pool games, as well as the final.

“I started at #5 all three matches and played all but the last 10 minutes of the final, where Queensland beat Sydney to win it all in an extremely tight match!” Worman tells ARN.

Worman earned entry to the UQRA for being named the ARN women’s college playoff MVP.

“It was an awesome experience playing against the top women in Australia,” continues Worman.

“The physicality and level of play were both extremely high. I also learned a lot at the Academy skill-wise and can't wait to bring back some of the things I learned to the States.

“Thanks so much for this opportunity; it's been the time of my life!”

After a short break for the remainder of the summer, Worman will join the Keystone women's RFC in the new Women's Premier League.
